Creator/Writer Melissa Samuels, Director/Editor Adam Parker, and producers Gutsy Media/Wake Up & Vote collaborated with Galvanize Action to develop the animated series The Littletons. Episodes use humor and our research, messaging, and voter understanding to address immigration, as seen in this example, as well as culture war issues, abortion access, and democracy.

Immigrants want to come here, work hard, and do better for their family. They are not the problem. The problem is partisan politicians who are trying to use this issue to divide us.

I think it’s pretty cool that people are brave enough to pack up everything to make their own luck here in America. That grit and determination to work hard is part of what makes us great.

Having immigrants move in next door to me took some getting used to. They talk different and eat different. But you know what’s the same? They work hard. Go to church. Raise respectful kids. And keep their yard clean. And if you asked, they’d give you the shirt off their back. I don’t think of them as immigrants anymore, I think of them as good neighbors.

One of the most important tenets of my faith is: Love God, love your neighbor as yourself. When I think about immigration, I think about our responsibility to welcome strangers and care for the vulnerable.

We’ve got deadbeat neighbors who can’t be bothered to bring in the trash cans or pick up their dog’s poop. And then we’ve got these immigrant neighbors who work hard, go to church, raise respectful kids, and keep their yard clean. I’ll take immigrant neighbors any day.

Three quarters of agricultural work is done by immigrants and during COVID they helped to support our economy and put food on our tables. Without immigrants, our agriculture industry and our economy would struggle.

When I hear stories of immigrant parents walking hundreds of miles with their children to give them a better life, I feel the love and commitment that must have gone into every step. These folks are determined to work hard for their families and for the American dream and I’d welcome them in my community.
